Football team “U.D. Las Palmas”, co-organizer of the social project “#UP2U: Depende de ti”

The Gran Canaria football team has become the main collaborator of the project “UP2U: Depente de tí”, led by the Magistrate of Juvenile Court Number 1 of Las Palmas, Reyes Martel, which purpose is to direct elements of assistance and social and educational support for the young people of the Archipelago with behavioral problems, or at risk of social exclusion, in order to make them integrate in a productive way in the society.

The Gran Canaria football team has signed a sponsorship agreement with the project “#UP2U”, Department of Employment, Social Policies and Housing, and with the University Foundation of Las Palmas,in which it is established that the football team will be the co-organizer of all workshops that, under the name of “Deport Vida” and funded by the “Ralons” Foundation, will set for a group of young people with judicial problems, to encourage health habits related to the sport values.

The workshops will take place over the next few months, and they will offer technical and sport education for young people. The work will be around the sport and its linking with the promote of health, social and communicative abilities. Furthermore, the Gran Canaria Football Team will offer educational talks for young people about football as an integration method. They will be taught by the experts of subsidiaries. Simultaneously, training sessions will be carried out for groups of young people with needs of supporting and integration.

At the same time, the football team Gran Canaria will collaborate with “#UP2U”, supporting the activities of this social initiative with the image of the football players and some solidarity actions.

“#UP2U project” aspires to be the main thrust that organizes a collaborative network between the Government, academic and sport institutions, foundations and the judiciary itself, to create effective help tools and intervention plans aimed for young people at risk of social exclusion and their family environment. It is a combined project, that involve companies and canary foundations in value education for minors through sport, as well as, an all-round program of workshops and educational scholarships with vocation for employability, and the development of educational and social workshops.
